Skate with Santa

Every December, we sponsor the Skate with Santa event at Boulder Valley Ice in Superior. For one afternoon, the ice rink is open to skaters free of charge. Panera Bread provides cookies and the Chamber of Commerce brings hot chocolate. Tres photography  takes the pictures.

Sadly, this was Stacy’s last event to organize as our official marketing coordinator. Stacy Swanson has been our marketing coordinator for the last couple of years. It has been so great having her coordinate and set up for our community events. Her husband has a new job and she is expecting baby #2, so it is time for her to move on…

For the first time this year we held a bike raffle. Participants had to answer a short quiz about the Chamber of Commerce in order to enter the raffle. For example,”How many businesses are members of the Superior Chamber of Commerce?” (Answer: around 250) “Name some businesses who are members of the Chamber of Commerce?” (For the directory, look here) And, ” The members of which high school club work with the Chamber of Commerce?” (Answer: DECA!) Any fellow DECA alumni out there???

The kids also enjoyed a visit with the Moose from Smiling Moose Cafe.

We stapled candy canes to the brochures (okay Stacy did. See what I mean?) and included them in the goodie bags. The bags also included offers and treats from other local businesses. We handed out about 300!

Hocky skate

The time went by really quickly. The rink was packed. I didn’t have a chance to get out on the ice myself, but maybe I will next year. My daughter, Lauren, came with some friends and gave it a whirl, but ended up hanging out with me.

I don’t know the names of everyone in this picture, but Gary and I are in the back. Heather Cracraft from the Superior Chamber of Commerce is next to me. Our very own Stacy Swanson is in the back wearing the green scarf. Carol Burkett of Tres Photography is next to Stacy. Ana Bisallion of Professional Carpet Systems is on Santa’s lap in the purple coat.

The Chamber posted the winner of the bike raffle on their facebook page. Congratulations Colleen! Until next year!
