Here are our procedures for handling regular appointments and emergencies during our office closure:
Rescheduling
Cancellation “confirmations” are being sent via text one day before the scheduled appointment time.
When we have a definitive re-opening date, we will begin calling everyone who missed their appointments.
If you would like to reschedule before that time, leave a voicemail at (303) 430-4200 and I will call you back to reschedule.
Emergencies
We are still seeing emergencies while our office is closed.
We consider it an emergency if a patient is experiencing pain. A broken bracket may or may not be an emergency depending on the pain level.
Dr. Dixon has been working out of the Westminster office most days. Please text our after-hours number, which is (720) 316-8221, to arrange a time to come in. This method will get you the quickest response time.
Smart Smile
Smart Smile is an Invisalign-style, clear tray system that we produce in our own lab. Smart Smile delivers the results of Invisalign, but at a lower cost. We are able to continue fabricating Smart Smile trays while the office is closed. We will be mailing trays to Smart Smile patients. Please keep in mind that we have no staff, so your trays may arrive a few days after your scheduled appointment. We are working on getting tracking numbers for shipments moving forward. When your trays ship, I will notify you with a text message.
Debonds
We will be prioritizing debond appointments when the office reopens. It is likely that we will devote at least one day to debonds only. We recognize how disappointing it is to have to delay getting your braces off!
Expander Checks, Retainer Checks, Smart Smile Checks
These are three types of appointments that can be accomplished virtually. We may need you to take pictures of your mouth and send them in. If this applies to you, you will be contacted with further instructions.
Elastics
If you are about to run out of elastics, please leave a voicemail stating the patient’s name and your current address, and we will send you a new pack.
The Best Thing You Can Do Right Now
Our biggest concern about delaying appointments is that hygiene habits may deteriorate. Please don’t take a hygiene vacation! Spend a little extra time brushing, flossing, rinsing and just making sure food particles don’t get stuck anywhere in your mouth. If you can keep up your oral hygiene habits, you will be okay.
